The science of
profound rest.

Somnara was founded to transform how the world approaches sleep — not as a luxury, but as a measurable science.

Chapter I — The Beginning

Founded in a laboratory.
Reborn in a bedroom.

Somnara began in 2018 when neuroscientist Dr. Elena Voss and former aerospace engineer Marcus Hale met at a sleep research symposium in Zurich. Frustrated by the gap between clinical sleep studies and consumer solutions, they set out to close it.

With seed funding from three research institutions, the company was incorporated in Palo Alto. The first prototype — a sensor mattress topper capable of tracking micro-arousals — was completed within 13 months.

OUR PURPOSE

Mission that extends beyond sleep.

We believe that optimizing sleep is one of the highest-leverage interventions for human wellbeing.
Evidence First
Every product release must be validated by at least three independent peer-reviewed studies before launch.
Global Access
Sleep science insights belong to everyone. We publish all core findings in open-access journals.
Measurable Progress
We track real-world sleep metrics from over 142,000 consenting users across 41 countries.
Human First
Technology serves the sleeper, never the other way around. Privacy is non-negotiable.
